You live in Montana. I've never even met anyone from Montana. So is there even people from there?

I find it sad for Montonians (correct?) If you've never seen a dolmar or makita saw..

Their dealer network is bigger than you want to admit. Go to home depot.

My HD sells Echos and rents Makitas. I peek in the rental room when I'm there to see if any are for sale and they already look like beat down road cones after a few weeks lol.

Dolmar /Makita dropping the Ps-9010 in the US as you may have guessed is due to some sort of tighter regs, but as its a current production saw under the current changes it is still available in both Dolmar and Makita colours here in the UK along with Germany plus some other country's around the globe.
Any changes in the design would make it fall foul of the reg's in the places it still can be sold (just like the 115 that is a 30 + yr old saw and still available) so doing away with all sales ...world wide.
There was some talk about a new bigger saw and even that it was under development ....Iv heard my share of detail but not something 100% to take to the bank yet.

Anyone know how to make battery powered stuff go faster? Lol

Any serious battery saw is going to use a brushless dc motor. So the 1st thing to make them run faster is going to be an aftermarket tuneable controller and some time on the dyno adjusting the motor parameters. Once you have an aftermarket controller you can look at making larger battery cases to fit an extra couple cells in to up the voltage.

Sounds complicated.

Never saw someone with a dolmar chainsaw ..ever.

And the idiot's that work at my home depot dont know the difference between a 16d and 8d nail.

I'd hate to see them make an effort to serve my chainsaw needs.

I just looked at the HD website and it turns out you can order one sent to the store, that must be something new. Honestly though, I don't see the average pro-line saw buyer doing that unless they are already a big Makita fan and don't already have a relationship with a saw dealer. They will want to ogle the saw in person before dropping their change on it, also they will want a real dealer to handle warranty issues which I'm pretty sure HD does not do. In other words they are going to go to Stihl, Husky, or Echo. The homeowner saw purchaser is going to buy whatever is in stock and fits their price point because they have a job to do and they probably don't care that much about brand. Until Makita gets their saws into actual OPE dealers they are going to be a bit player compared to the others.

@Mastermind Ahem.... did you catch all that? Take notes... "I remember back in the day when we had to do machine work to make saws faster!" ~ Mastermind in, like 10 years

@RI Chevy

^ this

Expect to see a 70cc battery equivalent in the next 2-3yrs. Maybe sooner

I’m a big fan of cordless tools but where does it end. I’m not a believer in battery operated stuff being much more eco friendly as what happens to all these batteries when they go bad?

I like cordless tools as well. I am not convinced that an electric battery operated saw will be able to take the abuse that a gas powered saw can take daily.
Probably good for the homeowner to make a few cuts from a downed limb and the like. But not continuous use. Batteries heat up. Motors heat up. You know.
