Similar to concept taken to more of an extreme than CAT40 where just the drive lugs cut outs are of different depth.

The Hurco mills and small DMG mills utilize the additional cutout to clamp the tool during the tool change.
The big DMG mills do not utilize it at all and could most likely run CAT40.

But the logic dictates to keep things simple, so all machines utilize SK40 with the exception of our baby mill the DMP.

The pull studs are different between the mill brands though.

For sure, I have a Milltronics which is different than most CAT40 pull studs.

Looks like one of the department managers at my side job shop has reached his boiling point and put this out on the storewide group chat:

"So real talk Jim, we are about a month away from inventory. I'm past the point of hoping you'll make our jobs easier by following the SOP that makes inventory prep easy. At this point I'd almost settle for you not making our jobs harder. If somehow after almost two years you honestly don't know how you are supposed to do the basics of working freight let me know. If you don't get with me about it and this continues I'll assume you are purposely making our jobs harder."

Coworker left to me just realized his M5x0.8mm tap broke 15 workpieces ago.
It is 8PM, he has processed 21 workpieces since shift begin 2PM.

Yeah, he replaced the broken tap and is in the process of cycling the threadless workpieces back through the machine.

In his defense though, it is 40ish°C in the hall with no air flow, and he is manning 2 mills at once.
I am scheduled to feed those two machines next week, so I know how stressing it is.
I am not laughing at him, I am actually sorry for him.

So about the guy at my side job shop who is constantly getting berated on the store group chat. He finally no call/no showed his shifts on sunday and monday, don't know if he was scheduled for yesterday and today. I asked my fellow minions about him and they say he still hasn't been officially fired. This is really not surprising, given that management already gave him several last chances for showing up 30 minutes late and disappearing from the store during his shift. I mean, if they aren't going to enforce the rules why would anybody follow them?

There is in fact a core of really good employees at this store, the biggest reason I've been there nearly five years. A huge problem in retail is that the good employees get spread too thin and they have to hire bad ones to attempt to fill the gaps. One problem that would be really easy to fix is, we have too many dead hours where the store is losing money and we have to pay people to be there. Instead of being open 7am-9pm every day, trim that down to 8-8 Monday thru Saturday and maybe 10-6 on Sunday. I really doubt we would lose money, probably have a net gain overall.

I just love it when half a dozen operators gather around one mill to resolve a issue.
Often enough they get stuck, look up/over to me just to see me watching them & grinning ear to ear then keep poking the machines screen.

I am done helping others, NOT MY JOB DESCRIPTION!!!
Unless I am in a really good mood or can use it to show off as in "See, easy!" .

And, mister no call/no show is still working there. He is driving an hour each way to work a basic retail job, so I suspect he has burned all the bridges in his hometown and has to branch out quite a ways to find employment. Oh well, not my problem to deal with and I get along with the guy just fine.

I have seen guys not show up for a week and still have jobs.
Come to work smelling like a skunk daily and still have jobs.
A guy points out a production error to supervisor and the next day he is fired

when i worked a small local coastal dry dock. it was the norm every day. the boss/owner supplied the drugs and we just worked and worked. then we would go to the bar and drink at say 11pm til they closed and then back for more drugs and work. we would often stay up for many days. then we would all crash in boats. for a day or two. then we would all go for a decent breakfast, lines for breakfast desert and start the whole cycle over.
