Haven't had much interesting in a while, well, that changed when finally, I was able to test out this new Stihl 070 that
@NightRogue sent me.
While it pales in comparison to the modern saw, I believe that if
@mirage can up the sprocket tooth count, she can be an even better cutter, as it has plenty of power left to bear, running about 700 rpm over stock here and still a touch on the fat side for breaking in. I actually had fun working on this 105cc beast I affectionately call Porky Pig because of its all-metal heft. The only thing that didn't go smooth was getting the carburetor to prime without pulling it a thousand times. It took three times squirting mix down the carb throat before it would sustain running. Other than that a few tweaks on the adjustment screws and it was humming along all on its own.
As far as mods go, it got the full treatment, machining, porting, timing, carb, governor and muffler mods. Tried not to get too radical as for one, it'll knock the stuffing out of the bottom end if you get too crazy and for another, it had to be easy to start as well. I think I hit the mark fairly well. These things don't run that fast to begin with.
