Yup. And the mag looks corroded. This must have been repainted before.

Check under some paint that is still stuck good by chipping off a little bit. Not saying it did, but if it is anything like a carburetor body it could have been the Purple Power. I soaked a carb in a glass jar full of it and it fizzed like alka seltzer. Came out all dark and stuff. Thought it would be easy on it, and just the opposite was true.

Here we go, since someone asked. The following took place via PM on another site.

JMS said:
I ain't gonna say anything about it on the forum because of the trolls but I'll fix and port it for 250$ and throw the nice starter in.

I've been building and porting saws longer than anybody out a forum and nothing you here on here is the truth
I port saws everyday all day so there isnothing to worry about with me.

What would the fix include in such a case? I know it needs the rubber bits gone through and replaced, and at least crank seals(if not bearings). The carb needs rebuilt yada yada.

Obviously a piston and rings, as you saw in my pictures.

Anything else it might need we can discuss when the time comes.

I also get parts at cost so no matter what it needs it won't be much.

I have a rubber kit for one here you can have also.
I keep most any it would need in stock.

The only parts that would be extra would be bearings and seals buy you probably don't need them but if so I have them in Stock.

The following were texts.

J: I have a bar and chain for you
I'll take 50$ for. It's a stihl bar 24" with a semi chisel chain.

I ordered new bearings last week and got them yesterday in case you need them
I can put them in.
It cost about 250$ at the dealor to have bearings put in.

That's how good of a deal you are getting. The bearings and seals are almost 100$. I want your business though.

Mastermind and those guys charge more than that to put bearings in.
It's a lot of work.

Me: Ok time to send some money. So you're doing bearings and seals for sure? Making the total $400? I made a deposit of $100, so $300 owed?

J: Yep

You need a new clutch
I have one, 50$
Yours is completely shot.

I have a new set of am dogs
Bout 20$ for both and the bolts.

Clutch is about 80$ new but I have a very good used one I'll take 50 for.

Everything else
is going great.
Porting it now
I'll give you a airfilter cover that's nice
This old one is fd up
---------------------
It's got new bearings and seals, piston and rings, rubber, fuel and impulse line.
Carb is rebuilt.
It was a bad pto side bearing that caused it to seize.
It should be around 30$ for shipping.
I'll get it sent out today.
Give me your address

Wow.......just WOW!!!!

I had forgotten him naming you specifically, until I went back through the messages. At any rate, this is clearly the paraphrased and excerpted version, though all are direct and unadulterated quotes. Any banter that took place between these excerpts were left out of the above because they had nothing to contribute to the point at hand.
