I reckon Redbull661 needs to throw a hard nose bar into the mix?!?..We all know they are slow and rob power /create massive drag/overheat/stretch chains/can't plunge cut etc etc...
I think it would be interesting to find out just how slow are hardnose bars? and Redbull661 is the man to test this yes/no?
I like me hardnose bars not for there speed racer cutty cutty stuff but the durability they offer and I think the old hard on chain's is a myth IMHO well long as you know what ya doing that is. I dress the bar when a new chain goes on and only take it off when it's used up and has no more hand files left in it (unless I smoke the chain by hitting a rock or some chit)..
But yeah just how crap are the old chitty hard nose bars next to these high dollar porcelain bearing low friction teflon coated bars?...
I like the older Oregon hardnose bars myself the radius on the nose is on the money! Stihl hardnose bars the radius on the nose is well odd? just meh.. All IMHO :roto2rie:..
A vid nothing special 088 hardnose bar .404 RS 7pin timber is Red Ironbark ...I have tried 8pin on the 088 but works way too hard and gets very hot and almost melts the top cover off! and if the dogs touch it just bogs! needs some more bananas to run a 8pin in Red Ironbark.....

I'm with rogue here, a hardnose would be fun and they are underated / unappreciated.

I am also curious about nose radius. Look at the old dolmar hardnose bar (or aftermarket ones), very large.

While I am probably being pedantic, gearing (which is what the sprocket, clutch, bar and chain assembly does) doesn't affect the torque the motor produces. What is does is facilitate the accessing the output of the motor in "hopefully" the most effecient/effective manner for the intended purpose.

Thanks to redbull for the original post and putting it up for reading.

Dude! I think you should either delete the entire thread or take the f-in high road ignoring the trolls so you can continue on with the fun.
I myself would really like to see some more tests with the fat belly bar with 404 vs 3/8 chains on that 661. Hopefully you have the right gauge drivers to do it.
