I was wondering the same. I've seen bars like that on race saws. I don't know what the benefit is.

They are for racing. The belly is for keeping a race chain in the groove at high speeds, inertia and what not. The roller tip is for minimal friction. Columbus area, I'd guess @Definitive Dave knows this cat or is this cat.
