I installed a short length of hose with 2 grub screws in it, filled up the tank, and set the saw in the sun. It only took about 5 min for gas to start leaking out of the end of the hose. FAIL.![facepalm  ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Tried it with longer hose and it just delayed the leakage.
Maybe it wouldn't leak if the tank wasn't full. Our maybe there's another piece of the puzzle in those older saws that keeps fuel from going up the hose as bad.
I dunno...I guess I'll reseal the carbs and put it back to stock.
It was a fun experiment and it didn't cost anything but some time.
