Has anyone replaced the factory Zama DM18 carb that came with the newer Makita EA7900s with the Zama DM11 carb and figured out a reliable adjustment procedure to get your 7900 starting reliably and running well? If you have, I’d love to read all about it. Thank you for your time.

Should be essentially the same carb and tune pretty easily. Some of the zamas had low pop off pressure and would flood from the tank pressure. Is the carb new?

Yes, the Zama DM11 carb is new, Shane. When you write “low pop off pressure,” are you referring to the weak metering spring in many of these carbs?

Supposedly there is a Walbro metering spring as a direct swap remedy to the Zama spring.

I don't know the part number, but there is one.

Hi all! As you may know, the Zama DM18 has an elbow installed in the bottom plate - and the DM11 does not. Needless to say, the Makita EA7900 also came with a hose that was attached to the elbow.

My question is whether or not I need to swap out the bottom plate with the elbow in it (the one from the factory DM18) to the new DM11, and reattach the factory hose?

The top part of the photo shows the DM18 setup (with elbow) - and the bottom part shows a brand new DM11.
