Some of us get a little saw snobby and have the 'pro saw mentality' but your idea ain't stupid. Stihl have sold so many ms250/251 saws around the world they would most certainly be highly refined & reliable. Whenever I see one on EBay they always attract interest (the market rarely lies). So many parts options for that saw, cheap cylinder kits etc. The guys who own them really seem to like them. It would be good to buy a seized near new one for near nothing & get to it.Cool thread, thanks for the links to the threads on the 250. I thought someone must have done some work on them, but I didn't expect to see pipes on the little buggers.
It did get my interest, if I find a toasted 250 I'm going to pick it up and do some of the mods (290 carb, 3/8LP, etc). It could be a neat lightweight saw for doing the small work.
That 2511 needs a rear handle variant.
I think it's a great idea, and I wish they would. They did it with the 355t and 361p both built around the same 36cc engine. Both come in at around 8#s dry.

The prices you all pay for saws and parts in Oz continues to baffle me.Yeah, that was my thought, chainsaws and parts are very expensive in Oz. I bought my trashed 029 for $50 and built it up. A 'parts saw' from a dealer would probably be stripped of the carb and bar - no biggie for me, I would put my own carb and bar on it. If I could find a trashed 250 for around $50-100, I could build it up into something worthwhile with Chinese parts.
EDIT: Looking at used MS250s for sale in Oz, they are around $500. I could build a lot better saw for less than that.
I'm hoping it comes soon.
Now who do you think makes these for Maruyama?

I know there bigger saws are Dolkitas. But from my findings Dolkita do make anything like this.
I believe Echo has made some Maruyama stuff in the past as well. Those both look like echo design saws. In fact that top handle is the spitting image of the echo 271

Your not going to cut your arm off with a top handle like a 200T if you know how to operate a saw .

Here's a list of saws and prices from Stihl Australia.

The costs for replacement parts is even crazier. You can begin to understand why Aussies have shown so much interest in Chinese products.

Is there sales tax on top of those too or all taxes in the price?
