That and it’s a bit of work and water to get grass to grow in the desert.

That euc that went sideways is amusing and embarrassing now. These days I’d have cut the side leaning limb off with the pole saw, gunned more to the left, and not left a Dutchman!

Only offering a tip. I didn’t see this tree with my own eyes. Maybe not quite as deep on the face cut. Let’s you get further into your back cut in a situation like that. West coast faller on AS schooled me in a way that made me understand it better than I can explain Told him what I was working on. He made it easy to understand wedging and where the pivot point changes depending how deep the face cut is.


Pictures don’t do real life justice so I’m not 100 percent sure how I would’ve done it. But you got it down. Didn’t die. Minor issues are to learn from.

I’m not a pro buddy. Just trying to help for future use. He seems like a total asshat but the guy knows tree work

In other words. The deeper you go on a face cut the more pressure the wedge puts on the hinge. Especially if you have a leaner.

A shallow face cut leaves a deeper back cut so the wedge has more leverage against the upper part of the tree. Longer lever between the back of the tree and the hinge.
