I sold an unpolished XS462 this weekend. It didn’t feel right without having the ability to clean it up firstThe only time I clean my saws is before I sail em.
I know, right? When I was selling some ported saws I liked to hear them say "did you really cut with this?" Yes, I sez. "No you didn't, I can tell, there's not a mark on it"I sold an unpolished XS462 this weekend. It didn’t feel right without having the ability to clean it up first
While we on this subject I was not impressed with the cylinder casting on the new 461 I have here.
Oh man I have some issues then. They are spotless after every use unless I know I'll be using it the next day.The only time I clean my saws is before I sail em.
I never have been. Intake port looks like crap.
That explains it, this was my first.
Naw, there were two at my local Ace Hardware last week. The only pro saws they had. Priced at $1100 I think.Dall's closet?
We're the flaws at least consistent?I'm sure I've done at least a hundred of them.....and they all have looked like crap. Worst looking Gilardoni casting I've ever seen.
I put mine back in the box after a clean and polish.I got a polished 590 on a shelf, I should probably go dust it off

Mine seems to run great in a cut from the dealer. Then again, I don't work her hard. Been babying it since I got it in 2017. I'll do a drop with it, and maybe a couple of bucking cuts if need be. She don't get much use though. I do let all my saws warm up before I start cuttin. When I get a second 461, I will warm one of em up. Or send her out to be done by someone. My only issue with my new ms461 is that, as far as I can tell, it came from the factory tuned lean and hot. Another Friday night special? Emissions standards workaround for the 1128 chassis? I dunno. Anyway, I cut off the tab on the high speed limiter cap; now it's tuned to clean up in the cut. Runs cooler and sounds right.
Was about to say the same thing, it looks more like a Chinese after market cylinder then an OEM. On the other hand the 462 and 572 cylinders both look amazing. While we on this subject I was not impressed with the cylinder casting on the new 461 I have here.
