I bet it was alot. I'm just talking about a top. Dirtbike carbon skidplates are about as much material and priced in that range. It wouldn't be too far fetched for maybe a Special Edition with a few carbon parts would it?

I dont know why they didn’t just build this exact saw for the new 500i, slightly larger engine and a little more power. But they already had all the parts tooled up to make the prototype.

I’m kinda disappointed the amount of pulls it took to start, efi and a purge primer I would think it should be less than 6 to stay running. Looks like it runs nice though and I still want one.

What’s wrong with the hd2 ?

Nothing, in my book, but some folks don't like em, say they get dirty too fast.

Yes they are DIRTY and changing to MAX FLOW made me see the light again in my 661cm.

Hd2 is a non go comparing to Maxflow

Most propably the vid is in Finland. So in cold temperatures i see through the video a USERS fault and not the chainsaw.

So a cold day doesn’t prove nothing as there are many videos the ms500i starts at first pull.

I m gonna be one from the first to get it once it arrives in January however from what i see i m skeptical if it can follow my 661cm.

And for most of you in the lucky America with MODDED saws maybe you will be disappointed in Ms500i stock configuration.

Now for ported editions etc the very good builders will have an R&D problem COST!!! They have to update or buy softwares etc to start the “plug and play”...

So for example even if i sent my saw to America the builder could not perform his FULL magic cause after he finishes cylinder-pistons etc how he will programm and reprogram the saw?

My dealer bought already those as recommended and the price went up to 2.000euros and some more to come.


On a side note: THERE IS ANOTHER NEW RELEASE FROM STIHL THE MS400. Say goodbye to 362,441,461.

No problem with porting the MS 500i its the same system like the MS 462.
It know the crankcase pressure and rpms an injext the right amount of fuel.
Open throttle = higher absolute pressure in the crankcase.
It has no throttle sensor like a autotune saw.

I m not in mechanics yet so I cannot agree or disagree. Couple months to find out

This video doesn’t reveal too much for the Ms500i other than it starts straight away and it was a USERS mistake the previous one.

For the Husky 572...well it’s 2 generations behind Stihl an already known fact. 572 chainsaw should be released at the beginning of 2000 or 2001 not 2018.

Weighing less and with more power than a 661, is it supposed to be a replacement for that and at only 200 gms more than the 462 perhaps cannibalise some 462 sales also?

Stihls new 500i, power of a 661 weighs less than 461 at 13.66 pounds fuel injected!

Yup. That's why I threw the question out there after you mentioned direct injection.
I wonder if they could seal off the lower end bearings and use some sort of changeable oil, while direct injection of fuel mix in the upper cylinder?
Just thinking outloud for a bit, don't mind me. Lol

it will be like outboard motors they have had direct injection for years
