That's what I thought. None of the saw companies sanction drop starting.

Is there something that prevents it from being drop started? My Dolmar 6100 is a lot harder to drop start but it can be done. If you sit it down or hold it between your legs, it pulls very easily. If you drop start it, it seems to override the easy start system.

Wouldn't surprise me if they built in an accelerometer to kill the saw if it kicks back or is dropped or I guess drop started

Maybe some pussies got problem with the compression on those saws.
It felt a lot harder pull compared to a MS 661.

I roll mine over first then give it the ol dropsies and off I go.
