Stihl MS260 muffler deflector.

I welded up this deflector to stop exhaust from hitting the case near the dog. Drives me nuts Stihl's do this and the heat can't be a positive thing for charge density and bearing temps.

I thought they aimed it toward the chain to help lube it with the mix oil .
Or was it so the exhaust does not catch what you are cutting on fire ?

It still points off to the side, it just deflects it past the case.
Burning the wood drives me nuts or I would have just done it up Walker's Saw Shop style with pipes.

I never realized how much heat came out of the exhaust till one of my side deflectors fell off once ,and melted the brake handle .

Looks great Ben. I use a piece wrapped. Mine can hit brake handle though.

Considered doing it that way but when I mocked up I figured exhaust hitting the brake might be a problem.
For German engineering this design really sucks!
