I did this muffler mod to the 029 I converted to a 039 yesterday. I have a nasty flu bug and did light duty yesterday. Today I feel worse.

It seems to be more responsive since the muffler mod. I look forward to cutting some wood with it.
Glad it is working out for you. My 039 felt like a complete dog until I opened the muffler up. Be sure to retune the saw. Now that it can let more volume out, it can take more volume in.

hoping he'll be around this weekend or next. I'll ship the pistons back as soon as we have the samples ready. Unless you want the samples field tested before shipping? @Gentleman

I only have one 290/390 chassis in the shop right now believe it or not... LOL!
That sounds good. Let me know if you need a saw to test it on. I have one here.

I used sealant around them . pto side was leaking at the crank . Other side was leaking around the outside. I done a little research and I guess there's 2 different kinds ? Didn't know that . The ones I have I can change with it assembled .

How did the surface of the crank look? was just thinking of how a rear main seal on a small block chevy will wear in to the crank

I always use a red scotch brite pad to clean the clam shell and the crank before installing. I get the cheap green oil seals from HLS and they have never failed me ye. I run a little sealant into the area where the oil seals and clams meet but not around the whole oil seal. The green ones have 4-6 ridges on the outside to help seal it so no reason for sealant.

FYI these are on sale for $1.34/pair right now.

Ok. I have a problem . It's started a couple times but just dies . Doesn't sound right at all . . Turned the saw on the side and gas leaked out where the hose enters the tank . Could that mess up the vacuum in the tank enough to make it not run right ?

Did you use an aftermarket fuel line or oem?
