Was the super rex made before, after or concurrently with the Rex?

Picked a Rex up to go with my other couple of solo's a month back. Will probable never run it much, time and money permitting would love to 'do it up' and stencil the bar with the farm name of the elderly gentleman who gave it to me.

Just want to say well done to skip sail, collectors like yourself help to keep this part of history off the scrap heap when someone passes on and the family doesn't know or care.
Agree!!

Here's a rare Solo super Rex,big bore monster,next to a little 090.
The super rex looks exactly the same as the rex standard, but comes with a lot more oomph.

Your saw is in great condition no metal fatigue at all
Which carb have you got on your saw is it a 154A
All the Rex's here are the same smaller hl80A carb

It would nice too get one on a logosol m8 plenty of chip clearance

I think the super Rex came out in the early 60's about 4yrs after the 1st Rex's came out

Yes it has the 154A carb, the standard rex has the hl80
HOWEVER,there are some instances of the standard rex fitted with the 154,so the only sure way is to measure the bore
Thanks for your interest and kind words fellas!

I made sure he honoured his end of the deal though

Not my Dad. Me and my brother attained a 1975 YZ 80 mostly in milk crates when I was 8. Dad just laughed as we'd not been allowed to have a motorcycle but he didn't say we couldn't buy parts. He looked at that basket case and said OK if you can make that run, you can ride. I happened to know the only thing missing was a piston ring. Talked G-pa into stopping in at a Yamaha dealer and bought one for six bucks, spent July putting the bike back together, spent another six bucks on gas/oil and a grip and fired it up on the second kick.

Well by the time Dad got off work that day, it was popping and idling on the third tank. I'm sure he was as impressed as he was surprised, but he made us sell it.

I just kept getting bigger bikes till one day I realized that I was riding above my skill level. I've never been on a bike but a few times since. :(
I haven't ridden a dirt bike in years, and I have zero interest in a street bike...never have. It ain't my skills on a bike in question, it's the damn texting while driving, ain't paying no attention kids behind the steering wheel that scare the hell outta me. My life's worth a little more than lil' Suzie hammering away texting her buddies to go get their nails or eyebrows done.

Hodaka's were big around here back in the late 60's/early 70's. Had a few buddies with the ol' Hodaka Combat Wombats. Cool bikes back in the day.

I remember those well. They had a brutal power band.

When I said I was riding above my skill level, what I mean is that I was riding a faster bike than I belonged on, and was competing against guys that were older, and better. After getting hurt a few too many times, I gave it up.

Bought my first bike for $25.00, a TY90 with another in a basket. Road the wheels off that thing. Then a CanAm 250 Qualifier came along, I had to push start it as I could not reach the ground with my feet. That's when I started going airborne. Nothing like a little bitty kid on a big old bike for going fast. Good times. Happy to just put-put around on a Harley nowadays.

My brother had a Hodaka Super Rat 100cc bike. That thing was unreal. Crazy power band. Saw him get tossed off the back many times.

They were some bad-ass bikes back then.

Last derail: Hodaka is now a manufacturer of carbon fiber bicycle frames and parts. We see their name on a few things here and there at work.
