Now those bikes .I was an old Harley rider before I went in the navy .Thought I could ride anything .Yamaha 250 twin, tuned pipes, drunken sailor ,can you say asphalt fever or road rash ?I learned how tuned pipes worked at 19 years of age --the hard way .

A lifetime on 2stroke MX and Offroad bikes barely had me properly prepared for the RD350 I built in college. DG pipes, carbon reeds and K&N filters...it breathed fire. When it came on the pipe the front wheel was just there for decoration and nothing more. Sounded like two pissed off saws screaming right next to each other. I had 5 interactions with The Man over a 3 year period...

Yeah the RD’s where a fantastic line up , over here people weren’t prepared either for them most had Honda 250 super dream , 400-4 or Suzuki gsx250
And then when they released the 250LC - 350LC that was ike having a race bike on the road the sound and smell is still in my head
Couldn’t resist putting this video up

Yea the LC ones had real suspension and brakes that actually worked...unlike my 1975 model haha. The engine GREATLY exceeded the capabilities of the chassis and brakes. But...I think the air cooled ones sound better and hit a bit harder.

Yes the original 350 you had was so ahead with the new designs and sounded
Awesome there still holding strong money over here

I had a 1976 RD 125 twin for years with microns it was a ridiculous little bike
Even though it was nearly a square engine it would rev its nuts off
And 5-speed

Super Rex? Working on cleaning this Rex, it was thrown in with the 3100g I purchased. Has the wrong carb...090 carb, and is missing the whole air filter/cover setup. But I did just notice the cylinder is a mahle 58zn3. 3ECB5EC1-E923-4F12-A1EB-7A13A622B557.png A9735822-AA60-4340-A46B-45BEDA774D3E.jpeg

Looks like you got a Super alright - the full-wrap handle is a giveaway. I worked with a guy who cut timber when those were real popular and he said the air filter that came on them was absolute rubbish and the
usual course of action was to pitch the air filter. It should be easy enough to find replacements - there seems to be a lot of Solo parts in Germany and Australia. Nice score!

Hey Frank, did a little (very little) research and learned for myself that those numbers (58) are indeed the bore in mm’s. I did not know that. As always, late to the party.
