Somehow I am thinking that the prices today compared to when they were available here are slightly different.
I am 30 miles down river from Arsenal Island which is an island in the Mississippi River. It has been home to the Rock Island Arsenal since the 1800's. During the height of the war it employed around 12,000 civilians in Army manufacturing. Today it is down to about 6000. They used to have surplus auctions there all the time. You could get things reasonable. There were many folks that made good livings buying the surplus and re-homing it. The machine tools that came from there were amazing. After September 11, 2001 all live on site auctions ended. They went to online auctions and for inspection you had to get clearance and it was a guided tour. We went over in 2004 to look for some CNC mills and 600 amp welders. The warehouses of top quality machine tools were amazing.
What does a running 6x6 go for these days?
