Got an adapter to run Stihl bars with my 7900 from @Homelite410. Excellent product and service. Oh, got a new 7900 too! Just fire it up for the first time today. I am going through an old school carb saw phase. Trying to snap some up while they are available.

Congrats, nice saws.
I think I have 5 now(all dolmar labeled) and a couple 64.. for parts, a ported early 7900 and a ported 7910, one half way converted to heated, and a couple all stock. I like them a lot :D.

I did a dumb thing today and backed right into a tree with my grading blade/tractor. Busted up the check chains, but could make one good one between both. A new one is $100 shipped on eBay, waiting to hear back from the dealer, but I doubt his price will be better.

How do you like the 7910, 7900 stock?

They're fine in stock form, but more fun ported :).
Here's a pic from a while ago of one of my stock ones.
I cant' remember if that's a 28 or a 32. The picture is a bit deceiving it was a good sized tree.

That's a chonker.

I keep debating on whether to get my 7900 ported or not.
For me it would depend on what other saws I had and what wood I cut. A ported 70 does 95% of the biggest cutting I do, I have friends who would be more than happy to help out on the larger ones, or I'd just buy a 661 and sell it when the job was done.

I cut mostly hard wood here. Oak, pecan, hickory, ash etc. 20 to 30in usually. Got a 395xp coming. Got a stock 462 for bucking and general stuff.

I do like the idea of a 15lb wrap handle 70cc saw that can punch above its weight. Maybe I should get all my felling saws ported. I know you guys won't talk me out of it.

Found a dealer in PA that was willing to ship me the parts for less than $90. Should just be a few more days and then I can get back to work.

I received a makita/Dolmar 7910 in January from the warehouse in Wilmer and didn’t even start it. I sent it to Tree Monkey to be ported and Wilhelm sent me Authentic Dolmar emblems to replace the makitas. I couldn’t be happier. It has been fabulous. I too bought stihl bar mount adapters and running a tsumara 28’”3/8 pitch .050 bar with Husqvarna H82 square ground Chisel bit full skip chain and will never go back to round filed! If I can’t grasp sharpening this I will buy a simington grinder to do so. It is so smooth! And I was on the band wagon that I needed an ms500i, nah.

I love square grind for felling fresh wood. It works so well it's worth learning how to sharpen in my opinion.

Did this square chain for a buddy I shipped a saw to.
This was the only time I ran it, got a good feel for it on the last cut.
