Typically most of us production cutting will square a new loop up before it even touches wood and also drop the rakers.

I may have worded that funny. It is already factory square, just not simington square. Or are you saying you take factory square loops and improve them before cutting? I can certainly see dropping the rakers where you're at. Eastern hardwoods aren't as forgiving, especially if they've been drying for a while.

I’m talking factory square it cuts like a turd even with the rakers dropped, even in our hardwoods I’ll do the exact same setup for chains.

Skeans is right, it's worth it to sharpen right off the roll. Just getting a crisp corner with a smooth finish will really help with Oregon chain.

I was wondering if Oregon starts new guys on the square grinder first. Or maybe they only make it on Friday afternoons lol

I've gotten noticible improvement from hitting the gullets with a round file at an angle close to the same as the side of the cutter. Improves Oregon right off the reel

Matt; if I was able to decipher those numbers the learning curve might be different at this time the next step for me is to black marker the dresser and scribe for a reference to see how much movement on the angle has been dialed in with a look at the result. Original angle outboard will self feed voratiously (too much) cutting that lean in half will be closer to what I want. Found out why that loop hung around untouched for two years, rocked a lot
