Yes sir, We still have Amish in our area using belt drives on their steel wheeled tractors. Sawmills, buzz tables, feed grinders, and silo blowers. The tractors have to be on steel to passify their beliefs/religion. When you get time if you could get me a couple of pics of your belt drive it would be appreciated. I may have to search some salvage yards. Also hate to be a naggy bugger but did you ever get a link to the Ford//Fordson tractor auction. It's another want to have and curious on pricing across your way. They had a 5000 size with large tired 4x4 at an auction and the seller turned down 10k dollars. Crazy some of the pricing. LOL!!!

Not a auction, but this one has been here since 1946.101_0615.JPG 101_0617.JPG

Jump to minute three...what that hoe has been doing this last couple of years.
1500 ft road dug in, surface water control ditches, power line and water line ditch, two pads for buildings, septic etc.. the life of a retired dude.

Not near as nice as some in here, but it's mine and she earns her keep. This is my hay tractor, and what I use in the woods to pull down snags and skid logs. I wish it had front-wheel assist and a loader, but I love her all the same.

Paint makes no difference. I'll take a working tractor over a museum piece anyday.

Afternoon. Worked last night into this morning, and just got done haying animals. Time for food and bed!
But, this Saturday is pheasant/quail season opener!!

How was opening weekend of bird season this year.

I hunted up in Beloit for over 20 years. Most years were good hunting with plenty of Pheasant, quail and the occasional prairie chicken. We mostly hunted milo fields and CRP ground, with dogs. I had two English setters, a friend had an English pointer and another friend had two Brittanys. Had 1,500 acres to roam around on.
Great times and good memories!

Sorry for the hijack, back to tractors.

What model is that? I was thinking about a new MX6060, but might look at used latger one. No one ever complained about too much power.
M9960 Shuttle Shift is awesome . LA1353 loader 84" bucket. Pop bought new 5 years ago. Prior model year so not Tier 4. Good deal. About same $ as smaller used
JD. Side discharge exhaust very nice. It's heavy, stable lifting and moving round bales high. Down side any work in yard has to be very dry. For general utility a 45 or 50 hp would be better.
The 6060 looks like better all around. Industrial tires might be better to.. The heavy tractor and ag tires not yard friendly.

I've had an MX4700 since the end of 2013. It's been flawless. Sometimes I wish we had a bigger tractor, but I've thought about adding a 70+hp old school ag or utility tractor if we ever really need one. My favorite aspect of the MX is the hydrostatic transmission. It really makes the tractor perform like a skid loader for our needs. It's not the same, I know, but the ability to place things super precisely with the pallet forks, or inch around spreading compost out of the bucket does the trick for us. I'm sure I'd get used to a bigger machine with a shuttle (especially a hydraulic shuttle), but the smoothness you can achieve on a hydrostatic machine after only 50-100 hours in the seat is pretty amazing. Also, I can put anyone who can drive a riding lawn mower on the thing and not worry about them driving through a building.

Yeah a hydro is the best if available. Naysayers say use to much power. What tires do you have and do you mow with it? We have a smaller Ford to bushhog and hayrack.
