View attachment 234875 Picked up a set of new wheels. Will keep the duratracs on the steel wheels for winter. Block on trailer is about 11k pounds. I really like the 6.0 compared to my 98 7.4.

You have another set of wheels/tires?
What year were they off of?
Not many know GM changed the 3/4 and 1 ton bolt pattern in 2011.

Yeah, they're some dumb MF'ers for sure!

2.4 connecting rod bolts torque to 18ft lbs + 100 degrees, head bolts 24ft lbs +155 degrees in case you were wondering.

I’ll write that down for when you forget. I have no idea why they switched but it was dumb. Ram has been 8x165 for a long time and still are to my knowledge.

They were able to increase the weight capacity of the hubs by switching to a larger bolt pattern. Not sure why (more meat around the studs?), but that's the reasoning I was told.

They probably went with a bigger diameter wheel stud. So it threw everything else off.

Maybe so they could make the *s-wordty unit bearings ever so slightly larger than before?

GM. - 8 x 180
Ford - 8 x 170
Ram - 8 x 165.1

Does that mean that GM trucks are able to hold more weight than a Superduty or a Ram HD?

It's all a conspiracy with the wheel manufacturers to keep us from sharing!

F-450's are 10 x 225 :coleman:
Yeah but in Ca anything over a one ton is a commercial vehicle and very expensive to register. Also emissions are an issue, as the state is forcing older trucks to be repowered and fitted with smog equipment from 2011-newer, scrapped, or sold out of state.

They did the same thing with tractors and other off road equipment. Lots of money wasted when they trade them in and they bust holes in the blocks of tractors so they can’t be used again
