Does it run any better? Any worse? I did that to mine, but inside there is more that you can open up. At least it was on my Echo.
Mine ran noticeably better afterward. Motor was freer. Lol

I opened up my shindaiwa weedwacker muffler too and fitted adjustable carb. Much stronger. There’s still a cat inside muffler but I can’t get it out unless I split the muffler.

My trimmer was starting to melt the plastic slightly around the muffler until I opened it up. Stupid cat.

It actually runs better now... the muffler was hollow from the factory but the hole was maybe 1/8" wide and 1/4" long.
