I’ve been using this stuff for a while now. It’s expensive but it’s the best I’ve found yet for mufflers. Dries to a nice satin finish View attachment 184273
Ill be buying a can when this ones done. I’ve painted headers with that and it lasted really well...as long as you didn’t scratch them installing them.

What you’re seeing came from a sheet that’s been outside I ran it over the belt sander but there is still rust on it in spots.

Need to wire cup a strip then cut some more coupons. That will make it easier to sand them to clean metal after cutting. Afternoon session didn’t go nearly as well. Forgot to turn the gas on several times...... dipped in the puddle and or touched filler to tungsten a few times..... trying to figure out how to keep my right hand able to move with the weight of TIG Torch. It’s dofferent then anything over done before.

Are you using a foot pedal or a thumb wheel for amp/heat control? I prefer a foot pedal most of the time.

Practice practice practice and if you can looking over a more experienced welders shoulder helps.

Little trick I learned is to roll the welding rod between my thumb and middle finger. It helps me feed the rod more accurately and smoothly.

How are you sharpening your tungsten?

Look at all the rust both from well used saws. One burns off all oil the other leaves it as a coating.

30* held so lines go front to back not round and round.

No heat control on the torch. 2T mode button on handle gas wheel as well. Need to grab a foot pedal soon

I've never ran a torch like that. We have a miller sincrowave 250 that we use. What brand/model are you learning on?

Sounds like your setup might not be as forgiving as others. That's not a big deal it will do the same thing. You are just going to have a higher skill set when you get it nailed.

That was in response to how I’m grinding my tungsten O^ not O> make sense? 30* angle on the point

Tweco 211i 3in1 lift start machine button on torch gas knob on torch with machine set to 2t 2seconds down slope.
