How much do they run? Looks like a nicely shaped head.

Saw that they are a family owned company that has been in business since 1675. That is a great price. Might have to try one.

Bet this Mueller splits wellView attachment 44033

I'm no axe/maul expert. But I've owned a lot of them, from the cheap box store axes/mauls all the way up to a few gransfor bruks mauls and axes.

I had one of those muellers for a little while. I didn't like it. Mine didn't have the over strike protector on it, but the same head.

90% of the wood I split is elm, so maybe I am biased. But it did not work very good for my needs, the deep cheeks only seemed to just help it get deeper in the wood and stuck more often. Seemed like I spent more time getting in unstuck then splitting.

I'm sure in other species of wood it wood be a good splitter.

Do you know what angle your blade is? A 6 lb. axe head is a beast.
Don't know the angle, all I know is it splits really well for a $70 axe. I will say the handles aren't that great. Mine came with a twisted grain but it was fitted pretty good. Split with it all day Friday and head never moved. IMG_0136.JPG

Would be a close toss up between a stihl pro splitting axe, and a fiskars X27.

Not my video, but here is a good comparison between the fiskars and the stihl pro splitter. Too bad husky does not make that s2800 with a longer handle.

My all time favorite and most effective maul I have is my sotz monster maul. It's just a brute, it gets stuff split. You don't even really have to round house swing it, just lift it up and let the 17 lbs do the work. Sometimes it's fun to swing it thou.

Smaller rounds and larger quarters, I think a stihl pro splitter would handle the job well. I'm sure that there are others out there that would do it great also. That husky s2800 would be slick I think with a 32" to 36" handle.

Anymore, I noodle the big rounds into 4-6 pieces, then pick them apart with a splitting axe.

That was a good video. Right on. I also prefer the Fiskar X27 for the same reasons. You can get that one strike hit if you use a hard base. It blows apart when the base is hard so the pieces can spread. The ground kind of prevents that spreading action.
I would like to see that Husqvarna in a 3 foot handle. I like the head.

That's why I haven't tried the Husqvarna. That handle is way to short. It would be very awkward to use at my height.

I don't know. Dolph Lundgren "Drago" is 6'5''. Alexander Skarsgard is 6'4'', his dad Stellan is 6'3''. That's the only people I know from Sweden. Most of the bunnies over there are long legged- least the ones in the mags were from what I can remember.

Lol. Maybe the Husky Axe engineer was short. Lol
I'd try it if they made a 36" handle.
