I didn't even know of council until I found that orange axe in daddy's old building and found out from you guys that it was a council made in NC so then I started reading about them. Interesting story, still family owned since 1886. I've never really been an axe guy, just used one when I had to. I've recently gotten in to learning about the different patterns and when they originated. When I saw that phantom bevel double bit michigan I knew i had to have it. I was also looking at that 6 lb fire axe or forcible entry as they call it. I was wondering if it would be a good splitting axe or would a maul be better.Council tool makes some really nice axe heads I don't have one of their doubles as I have a few older nice double bits but I have 2 of their 5# single bits one on a whisky river 30c and the other on the factory handle and also a 6# and an 8# fire axe made by them.
