Scabbard or Case? What do you prefer?

I didnt have anyone to hold the board. I figured my luck if I bore cut it in the truck I would also hit the box and fugg up my chain, not the truck.

Looks like this. I had borrowed my Dads when I was making a bench, so I used it to cut the slots.

Scabbard only. I don't even have enough scabbards, so some go naked...

Besides, the 7900 and 2188 don't really fit in any commercially made cases.

Good stuff y'all. I think I'm gonna stick with a scabbard for now, as I don't want the bulkiness of a case. I have a large spare tool bag that it fits in, I may end up using that.

My 261 stays in my truck so it rides in a case hooked to my headache rack. My bigger saws stay in the shop unless needed so they just have scabbards.

I use both. Prefer case for 026 and 261cm.
Scabbords for the rest...

I like.a case for the 50 and 60 cc saws, the rest gets scabbards, it helps to keep the saws looking nice for resale value.

Bed of my truck is open. Cases protect saws from inclement weather.

I use scabbards on pole & TH saws, the rest run naked. But nothing like that sound when you go round a corner a bit quick & here your pro saws all slide across the truck tray checkerplate floor & smash themselves up. Hate that sound...you here them speed up before they meet their fate.

I got my cases from 2 Stihl 026/260 purchases. Only reason I have them.
And yes, it does protect against that sliding in the bed smash.
Don't knock them til you try them.

Careful using green wood, it will just your bars and chains if you let them in there overnight
