I know one thing for sure.

I won't be selling my 044 to get an 038 any time soon.

Geez I love that saw.

I have an 024 to rebuild and then my firewood lineup will be complete

024
044
064
084

I like 4's

Don't run a stock 371/372 vs a 044 because you will be selling the 044's fast. Well atleast that is what happened here. I loved both my 10mm and 12mm 044's until I ran my 371.

I owned a minty 372 that I gave a gasket delete and muffler mod and yeah it cut well, was smooth to use but I couldn't bond with it.
I sold it and have fallen in love with the 044.

Huskies are great saws, no question there!
I just like stihls better.
I prefer them to work on
I prefer the way the feel
I like how they sound
I prefer to use them cutting trees up.
I don't need to keep moving the magnet tray to catch the screws ha ha :-)

The husky I liked best was a 268 I rebuilt.
That thing felt more like a Stihl with no springs and just went hard!

You need a good solid 181/281/288 to play with if you liked the 268.

A 372 cuts fine but I can't stand how they feel,same with a 390.

394 and 395 are solid like a stihl and that's why I like them.
262,268,272,281,288 I like them also.
I like them all accept the 372 and 390

My 044 beat several 372 even before I deleted the base gasket and advanced the timing. Too bad you do not live closer, would love to compare the saws to one another in the wood.

I wasn't or am not just going off of the speed. I like the comfort of the 371. The stihl does have more rigidity for falling which is nice though. They are both great saws. It just comes down to personal preference.
