Actually I believe a 359 is more underrated. With some basic work they are real performer with more grunt than the 357

Agreed. I’ve built some really nice 359’s but I’ve always been a little disappointed by the AV system. It always felt sloppy and like a pure plastic saw. The 562 give me a lot better feel of control. I have a 262 that I need to build someday to get perspective of the old standard.

I agree with that too, the 2260/562 is just a fabulous operating saw

The av and oil pump start to near the limits at 28” .050 bar for the 562 (.063 might do better). It runs that length bar surprisingly well for 60cc in stock form. I like it with a 20-24” in hardwood. Handling is good with that setup.

But I've heard from more than one builder that both saws ported, a 59 won't beat the 57. Better cylinder design and stuffers ftw?
I bought mine new 3/'11 and it's been my goto ever since.

People totally underrate the 357. They ain’t as torquey as a 262 or 562, but they are very smooth and fast.
same with the 254xp! I really like that saw, but it's a shame so hard is it to get one in good condition these days. 242xp too, best limbing saw of all time, but over 15000rpm from the factory have paid the bill, super hard to get a one in acceptable condition with original jugs/piston.

I got a 242 if your interested send me a PM and I agree with the 254, my favorite saw on that chasis and that says a lot!

It has the new case and a new topend, still has the 46 carb but has been updated.
I really think it just needs some run time
Seems like that carb either works or it doesn’t for some people. The 48 runs good on mine.
