I got you (I think). Pretty sure I have an extra. What time will you be there in the am?

Half the key, as thin as my vice grips would allow. It didn't pop from being too far advanced at all, sounded clean. I did this to a 024s and it improved greatly too.

Half the key is .0375"

Stihl key is .075" thick

Most of the keys I have measured have been .076 - .080, so you may have taken about .040 off, or about twice what I normally do.

If that dyno gets done, we could do some tests on what works!

What are you measuring with?
The couple hundred I've measured were right at .075
A .080 key wouldn't fit in the key way I don't believe.

Quite a while back, my Nephew secretly put a big bore kit on his Husky, believing it would smoke my 70 cc Stihls.

When I arrived at the cabin, he had a Ash log all set up for the testing, but was very dismayed when both my 044 and my 441 bested his big bore.

To be fair, someone had also convinced him that full skip chain would cut faster on a 20" bar, and I think that also worked against him. I think he has only run full comp since then.
