Great looking saw! I hear a lot of guys say they'd much rather have the older 200t because of the power difference. Did stihl get the kinks worked out with the new model? Im sure after ported it wouldn't be an issue.

Even a gasket delete, advance and muff mod wakes these up a lot.

How would you rate it compared to that 044 you want to snag?

I have video of the 044 cutting a smaller section of that same log below.
The problem is the 044 has a 20" bar and chain whereas the 372 has a 24" bar and chain both full comp same chain type sharpened by me.
The 044 has the Huztl dual port muffler which is basically "pre made muffler mod" and switched to the HD-2 filter, but no timing advance -- yet.

I really need to get a husky large mount 20" bar and run the same chain on both to make the fair comparison. Or get and adaptor to put the 044 bar on the 372. Also -- I'm not the same operator as Dan, but here's me running the 044 w/ 20" bar on the same log at the other end of that log where its smaller:

This is with just DP muffler and stock filter:

And this is stock muffler, stock filter:

At Dan's GTG I put the maxflow filter that either @RI Chevy or @Canadian farm boy let me borrow and it gained 500 RPM w/o even bothering with the tune I put it in some wood and it felt like yet a different saw again (in a good way!). I don't have video of that, but in one of the videos from the event there is coverage of me running it against @MustangMike 's 044 but it wasn't fair because I think Mikes had whatever is Stihl equivalent of a 28" bar on it ... I had Mike run each saw also but I don't think I have video of that.

I will try to bring this saw to the NY and CT GTG again. It's still not mine, but hopefully will be by this summer. The owner has one project he wants to do before selling.

When the 044 becomes mine I will be getting a maxflow filter for it.
This is saw along with @jmssaws personal 064 that I ran and @Canadian farm boy hybrids I've seen but really WANT to run are what have festered up my wantings of a Stihl saw or two. Also doing the starter repair and new muffler with some minor disassembly of that 044 to check out how it's put together -- the quality of the saw was pretty obvious. Well made German engineering.

Runs nice Eric.
After watching all your videos, I have come to the conclusion that all you need is a 21" bar. Lol
Both saws look pretty equal.
The minor mods made some decent improvements. [emoji106]

I think I can borrow a couple of inserts from the dyno to allow me to mount the Stihl 20" bar on my 372.
From having run both the 044 should be just slightly nervous maybe... ;)
With the various mods in place and a good tune the 044 will have a better chance I think :)

Just splurge and buy an Oregon 20" for Huskys. You got enough Huskys that you will make use of it. [emoji106]
