Dang that's an extremely sweet running saw Kevin.
I see it has the single stud PTO side case and easy adjuster too. Seldom seen for sure.
Gotta ask, you don't have to answer though, Single ring for the numbers you built that around or does it still have two rings on the piston. Thx. timg

Still has two rings. I realize the bottom one is a little bit parasitic for rpm’s but if you widen the exhaust to where that ring was an issue, it would only be about 1/8” from the edge of the transfers and I feared that I’d be losing more fresh charge of the exhaust

The tensioner is the first I’ve seen. I had no idea how it worked at first. I removed the cover and there’s a big awkward looking gear contraption in there lol. Mounted it on the bar and put it on the saw and it works perfectly

Finally got that 288 kit saw wrapped up for my friend. For its second cut I thought it did alright…curious to see how long this thing lasts.

I wasn’t that impressed with the torque on this thing. As it sits it has 0.023” squish with a base gasket ( I took 0.025” off the base). I think I will cut the band 0.020” and remove the gasket and see how it runs. I didn’t do that from the start because the intake was already at 80.

Been awhile since I worked by first saw, 032 with base gasket delete and dual port muffler. She was mint when I got it, not a visible mark of wear in the cylinder or piston. Now that the herd has grown she usually just sits there or maybe gets a cut or two. Put a full tank through it today! Not the fastest saw in the fleet, but these old saws let you just sit back a bit and buck with a slower frame of mind. Kind of nice… white birch, 20” bar full comp

Sounds lean in the cut to me ,but might be the video?
Nice job putting it together.
