@Red97 one suggestion, slow down the popup pics and text…I’m fast but not that fast. :D

I will do that on the one after the next....

Lol

Next one is an overview/progression of the saw dyno. But it is ready to be uploaded... So I will have to do that on the next ones.

Since no real action, maybe .5 speed will work.?

Once i start actually recording new footage, I will make it longer to tell the story better. ALL this is just clips and pics stored in my phone, and edited on the phone too....

This morning the 395 was surging after hard cuts. Kevin correctly diagnosed it as old or too low octane fuel. Goes bad real quick here in the heat beside being CA gas in the first place… VP makes your blues go away. The choke lever also broke off, clutch was sticking on the 2166, and it wouldn’t hold a tune…Funny how one time you go out and everything sucks and later it kinda all goes right like this evening.

395 is an animal….gotta get the chain juuuust right for euc. Gotta the perfect grab in the sharpening process and feed pressure. You either get no bite or too much. Now I know why the aussies always look like tweakers jerkin the saw around - running bars shorter than the diameter of the wood to save power means you have to manipulate the saw a lot. I was Sharpening every 2-3 cuts running full chisel because that’s what was handy. My big bars were in the machine shop for carbon fiber experiments.

I think it’s easier to Stand Up and Buck with the 3120, 42” heavy bar and .404” and just let it eat vs. working the saw.

Might be able to try a shorter set of dogs on the 395 and get rid of some of that bog

That’s what I was thinking, but you need all the leverage you can get when you’re cutting with the whole bar. I probably just need to get better at handling it. Would have been a lot easier if I’d gotten the forklift and rolled it and held it up.

Makes a difference getting used to one saw I’m sure, versus dabbling a little bit with several

Not sure what's going on there.
The only reason we run 90cc plus saws with say a 25inch bar is you have to if you are running .404 you need that power to pull the chain in harder timber.
If you are running 3/8 and 25inch bar you don't need a 90cc plus saw you can use any little saw to pull 3/8 chain.
And I'm talking stock saws the Gum you are cutting isn't what I'd personally class as hard timber even being dry.

This is what ya call hard timber ring barked 50 year dead standing narrow leaf red iron bark make ya fillings fall out lol

https://youtube.com/shorts/5PuTQfOHM2Q?feature=share My ported 346oe with 24” 3/8” full comp through some long leaf pine knots. Sausage man helped me with the chain on it but I think it may have dulled by the time I made the video. Still an improvement nonetheless.
