Saw video thread

Here's my 550xpg with Pop up Piston from lil red barn, Muffler mod and i did the Transfers plus the Exhaust over the Weekend. Have make a stepdown like i have seen here @ OPEForum in the Cylinder Artwork thread!

This is my first Saw modification and im happy with it.

Wood is Sycamore Maple.

Looks to me like your Sycamore is a little tougher than the Sycamore we have over here. The wood in the Maple family vary quite a bit.

This Sycamore is not much softer than Beech, that we have here, from the feeling when i cut it.

Our Sycamore is very soft, it is about like Pine. ... From watching your video I would guess the wood you are cutting is like our Red Maple, which is not as soft as our Sycamore or Silver Maple, but but not as hard as our Sugar Maple or Beech.

288xp that came to me as a box of parts, full build, bearings etc. Nothing too crazy happening in the cylinder but it seems to do pretty well.

All my chains seem to self feed great when noodling. I figure it must be in how a guy files there chain? Or the type of chain?

I believe there is a difference in what folks call self-feeding. I’m talking pulling the RPMs down to where you wouldn’t want to push on it to try and make it cut faster. Chains are typically quite a bit more aggressive cross cutting than when noodling for me at least

Not necessarily. It’s a ported 120cc saw. I typically use a .404 x 8 on them. Figured 3/8 x 9 skip was similar

My first full port job of a 461. Saw came to me with TA, MM that I did a couple years ago for my friend, he also installed a max flow filter. I machined, ported and modded the carb yesterday. Picking up an unlimited coil at the PA gtg next weekend.
