I hear ya, it is on the first day of Crossbow season here in NY, and I got one this year (finally). Really wish they did not have the season, but since they do, I will do it (prefer the traditional bow).

When they first had early MZ up in the Adirondacks, I went with my bow cause I did not have a front loader. Cost me a 10 pt buck, the bow would not got through the brush, he was only 30 yds. The arrow stuck in a small Hemlock sapling and bent over almost touching him.

So, lesson learned, now I use what they allow. Like my Uncle once told me, when you see that buck of a lifetime at 150 yards, you do not want to be a hotdog with a handgun instead of a rifle!

I'm a very long way from CT and the bucks are starting to chase so I'm pretty booked in November
The neighbor had me look over a tree to drop.
The bucks were sparring in his back yard this am, clack, clack.
He showed me where they tore up his lawn.
This is all while I'm looking to hang a stand!

Now, more realistically, but still a super great saw, the 460/046-D Dr Al ported for me:

Hey Mike maybe we can compare this to the 460 Dan had Jason port back in May. I'm a huge 044 fan but would like to run some 460 saws and compare too.
The red lever 044 that is likely a complete copy of yours should be at GTG my brother just needs to pick it up from the owner one night this week.
I've got a new respect for Stihl even more so than before now that I've spent a bunch of time running the 044 and a few of the 064 / 066 / 660's from last couple GTGs. They seem to be built like tanks. 9 days to CT GTG!

I always look forward to it Eric, and just think, CFB is coming down all the way from Canada! He will have an 044, an 044/046 hybrid, a 026 (and he made the intake for it) ... gonna be good!

IMO the 044/440/372 is tough to beat as an all around saw for anything. That said, I've bucked, noodled or milled several large Red Oak this year, when in larger wood the additional torque of the 460 saws is really appreciated. I'm sure in many of those situations a 90 cc saw would be even better, though I would never recommend something that heavy for all around use. But they are on my radar, especially for the milling and use of the 36" bar (I've got something in the works).
