I think after you run mine at GTG, you will want to purchase it and do the same mods. It will be running a 28" light bar with RSL full comp.

I can't wait to run them both and have you run them etc. Going to be one of the highlights of the GTG for me!

The one I'm bringing will have 20" Oregon Powermatch bar with 73LGX round ground chain. I know the Oregon is a bit softer -- if Kevin has the square ground 20" loop he's made for me we could throw that on there and then compare. Will also tune it to the 15K range -- I think I left it at a conservative 14.5 or 14.3 when I returned it to the owner and I think it will turn 15K all day long with the HD-2 and dual port muffler.

CFB, was the original cylinder still good, and is it a slant fin?

Also, if anyone on is familiar with case splitting a 034, please say so, I have a bit of a dilemma.

When I got the saw it had a ms440 cylinder with a decomp plug. The previous owner told me that the original top end was scored. I replaced the 440 cylinder and piston with a ms460 cylinder and piston thus turning it into a hybrid. Now just to make thing even more confusing I replaced the ms460 cylinder and piston again but this time I put a 046D cylinder on it. It works way better with the D jug.

I love them 046-D jugs, don't care what anybody says! You should try to find out what happened to the original angle fin jug. If it is just transfer on it, someone will want it.

I got the D jug for the 460 Al did for me cause I saw the saw on Craigslist, it was an original 046 DP, but said it had a new P&C. I called on the saw, and the guy said it was already sold. I told him that was OK, I did not want the saw, what did he do with the old cylinder? Ended up buying it, and the rest is history!

What's the dilemma Mike?

I can bring my case splitter if you want me to.

I hear heat is your friend though. Jason says he's never used a spitting tool. He just heats them up real good and hits the crank with a soft hammer.

I have my JMS Saws powered MS440 too. ;)
And my Doc 026.
I'd like to run that 440 next to the pond of 044s and hybrids. Also want to run a legendary sawdoc 026! Serious RPMs those things turn. I'll be on the prowl to add a Stihl saw or two to my collection...

I'll be bringing my Doctored 026 also.

Al, I made a case splitter and got it split, thanks. I wanted to confirm the pin was not a bolt before I pounded it, but ended up taking a chance and it worked out just fine.

Here is my home made case splitter, made from an old roto tiller tine (this may be a first):

Sounded good. But you didn't look too happy. A carb adjustment?

Wow!! Cuts very nice! How much compression? I could tell it was a little bit off but not much. How do you like the recipe so far?
It's either fat or lean but is very strong
I'll rebuild the carb in the morning and see what the pop off pressure is.

I've not built a saw with more than 200lbs of compression in about a year until today,it's pretty high but starts pretty easy.
