Years ago I bought a folding metal set at an estate sale for $5. I was shocked to see how expensive they were in stores.

Rubbermaid brute trash cans. Perfect height. Use 2 and a couple 2x4s for ripping plywood. Just don't cut the damn trash cans like everyone I work with.

These probably work better than you would think. I'm guessing the holes are about weight reduction and add a distinct look...
I have a guy that works for me that builds horses out of 1x material that will hold a tank! I always made mine out of 2x6's for my heavy beams in the past. He talked me out of it...

The holes lighten and also give you a spot to clamp to, also they are flat for putting in the truck or trailer

That's one 4x8 sheet of plywood:

Poorly constructed horses are maybe my worst pet peeve. Nobody should get to the next level until they get their first set right. Norm gets it ok. He does some shortcuts, but his are better than 95% of the ones out there.

I'll talk you guys through it later and try to get some pics or a vid.

I've had a set of the metal folding deals for several years,,screwed a 2x6 on top to replace as needed and doesn't trash saw blades when I nick 'em. and easy to store.
Have been known to build the simple "inverted T" on occasion when helping a buddy or wanting something taller, but have limited storage around here so they end up in the burn pile when finished with 'em.

image.png Ok, I'm almost embarrassed to post these. I've always thought they were just plastic crap. Truth is, they're practical as could be. Super light, strong, legs adjust independently to be usable on uneven ground. Buddy of mine has several sets that get used quite a bit. They also fold quite compact for storage. Can fit three sets in the space of one set of traditional horses. All things considered, they ain't bad after all. No, there's no pride. Just practical.

I was hoping you would post here ,i remember you talking about saw horses on a/s years ago ,I respect any input you add to this thread .

Edit ,the ones i made out of pallets look like Norms ,except they are 3 feet tall ,and i angled the legs out 10 degrees for stability if i use them for scaffolding ,i ran the tops through the table saw like he did for angles ,instead of sheetrock screws ,i used 3 inch deck screws so they do not rust if leave outside .

Here are the ones i threw together in about 20 min before i started this thread out of pallet boards ,they are fairly sturdy and stack on top of each other ,look similar to norms but the legs are kicked out on the bottoms ,i just ran the ends wild and sawzalled them off because was in a hurry .inv cars 6-9-2016 hybrid amsoil plug 041.jpg inv cars 6-9-2016 hybrid amsoil plug 040.jpg inv cars 6-9-2016 hybrid amsoil plug 038.jpg inv cars 6-9-2016 hybrid amsoil plug 037.jpg
