Ok ,i took my 461 off the shelf ,and remember why it it is sitting there collecting dust ,the exhaust tone hurts my ears for some reason ,when i run the 440 ,441,or 660 i do not have this problem and the 440's have triple port exhaust and the 461 has dual port ,I do not wear ear plugs normally ,but my other saws do not hurt my head like the 461 does ,anyone else notice the 461 saw is extra loud ? I even tried a stock muffler cover on front ,the tone still hurt my head ,Is the 661 like this also ? Maybe the transfer routing has something to do with this ??Only thing i see different besides the quad ports and transfers over my other saws .

So it could be the porting mods making it louder ? Not the design of the saw ? My other saws are ported also ,but do not hurt the ears .

My stock 044 with a dual port has a different tone then my ported 461 but they both make hurt the ears.

This is one of the loudest and best sounding saws I've ever ported, love the idle.

Does not sound go ear piercing.... sounds pretty deep to be honest.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

Some. A few are stock saws from the 60-70s when a muffler was a straight shot about 3" long.
Plenty of hearing loss back in the day when hearing protection was some rag stuffed in the ear !
Would have to be the double trouble option for me if trying out something like you describe... The "Muff & Plug " :D
