Never touch the stuff. I posted a pic on the AS many years ago of my tach reading 16K when I was tuning my 361 and they pulled it down and said it was because they where afraid people where going to blow up their saws/lol.

Same with me on the vids. I rarely watch anything but a friend’s saw video or an instructional vid when I have a project coming up.

What does it mean when the saw only drops 1K when the it hits the wood?

I was running a 268 a few days ago that I had tuned to 13,000.....it was turning between 10,500 and 12k in the cut with a 28" 3/8 buried. Of course I could make it turn less by ham handing it, but I gotta tell you, I was really happy with the way that one pulled.

@Wanab have a look at the chainsaw dyno thread on here. Most of this has been covered in there. For a work saw like the 660 all it’s useable power comes in that 8-10k range.
