Got some room to widen on the skirts,

But it’s already been widened to 65% of bore, I’ll reshape it a bit

Just beveled the cylinder entry. Boy this ks plating is hard!

Probably should have done it on the lathe when I had it set up. Next time I will.
Time to see where the numbers landed.

Reverse the parameters and I know I need to raise .9 mm or .035

Measure it out with the fancy measuring tooly thingy you have, and then make a small, fine mark on the cylinder wall... maybe a scriber? That's about as fine and precise as you can get? Not a full pressure scratch the hell out of it, but just a light line to see the edge of it by?

I saw tree monkey had wooden mandrels made to slide down to the squish band and then grind to. I really like that idea! But I know everything expands and contacts and thousandths matter here. So I calculated what I need for height from the squish band. Then I took a broken ring I have and measured it, deducting for that I then cut a shim a little bigger than I need

Stuck a piece of 80 grit to the bench

And sanded it til it was what I needed.
Then I dropped in the bore and slid the ring down against it. I measured and was low by .002, so I stuck a piece of paper towel under it and I’m right where I need to be. As you can see it’s not much to grind but makes a huge difference in blowdown!
