Check his YouTube, if you want to see a plethora of fine particles, Lol 😆
Never ran a chainsaw in these conditions.
Having ridden dirt bike in the arroyos I have encountered te hecho/blow/fly sand/ of talcum powder consistency which blows up in a dust cloud when ridden through.

I’m a Maxflow fan, but I’m going back to the oem HD2 filters with the outerwears …….. and I’d never have even considered it, except that I used a saw with one and it sure beats cleaning up and oiling the foamies
How often do you need to clean them? I can go a few weeks before I need to clean the MaxFlow on my 460 and I do that “just because” - I’ve never had fines make it into the intake tract..

I grease the filter joint on my 562 even after the updated filter, it does a phenomenal job of cutting back on the fines making it in.

To answer the J-red thing, a 372 and 2171 use the same air injection horn and flywheel shroud.

Personally I'm a huge fan of foam filters, on 288/2100/045 chassis' foam filters are the gold standard. Most fleet/commercial Stihls I see are wearing Maxflows. I don't like HD2 filters, all the saws I've seen with them have incredibly large amounts of fines throughout the engine, bad enough I've had to scrape fines out of the transfers on some.

How would that effect the amount of intake air being directed over the cylinder fins for cooling?
i have no idea. i have put it over my mouth before to see how restrictive it is and i cant even tell that im breathing through it. i dont think it would block any air flow from getting to the fins unless it was totally caked with gunk

I wrapped yellow teflon tape around the air horn of my low top 372 clone( Dawson's Gold) for a tight ,leak free seal.
Outerwears prefilters are better than pantyhose and shed water, but I don't know if they make any husqvarna specific ones? I have one on a hightop 372 but had to make some measurements.
I run a maxflow on my 088 , the filter cage and filter material is great for keeping the fines out ,but the plastics covers are absolutely garbage and not worth a squirt of pizz.
You can buy Uni- filter foam in sheets and make it yourself too. I made one for my Dome top 10-10 and it breaths well.

Yea, made a few different setups with the UNI foam sheets, just cut to desired shape, hot glue ends together 👍IMG_1062.jpeg

The one that fits the Stihl's will fit some others, I like to put them on a Hi Perf saw so you know it will keep getting the proper amount of air to it, especially the Stihl's.
Some like the 288 lo top, 272/394/262, 254,/257, 346/353, 359.357, 365/372 and 390 can run a winter filter.
The 261/462 can run 20-1114-05 and the 395xp can run 20-2653-05 as well as the bigger HD for 661 and 500i 20-3297-03.
The folks at Outerwears are super helpful and most likely already have something made for a fitment measurement you send in.
I've put them on 272 and 288 HD filters but can't remember what I used and can't find record of it, so I'll have to go through fitting them again.
