The other day I purchased a bunch of Huskies from a buddy...
(2) 335xpts, 340, 346xp, 440, 455, 61, 288Xp, K760 demo saw and a 550xp...
I cleaned them up and got a bunch running...
The 340, 440, 455, 61 and the 288... parts are coming for the 346xp and that'll be a runner as well.

The 550xp is Mint!!! Had a bad crank bearing. I cleaned it up and assembled it to see what all was missing.

I took the 550xp apart and I was searching for bearings that were a steel case replacement... I settled for a set of Timken bearings, 6202 2RS C3... stock bearings are 35mm 15mm 12mm single seal...
where as the Timken bearings are a double seal that measure35mm 15mm 11mm... I figured not a big deal 1mm difference... (12mm = .472" vs 11mm = .432") I'll just machine a spacer to go between the bearings and the case as well as a smaller spacer for the clutch side to keep the proper spacing.

I was wondering if anybody has done this? In theory, it should work just fine.

After some comments about radial seals... I figured I'd go a different route... I have a bunch of 461 bearings with the internal seal I'm thinking maybe I can measure everything and then try to mock everything up to see. The case retaining lip for the stihl bearings would have to be opened up approximately .040" to allow the smaller outside diameter to go through... I might have to make some shims to slide over the smaller diameter to set the bearing in the case at the correct depth as the 461 bearing overall length is 13mm... the larger diameter length is 10mm... so I'd have to machine a 2mm spacer... by the looks of it, the flywheel side will be perfect after a little clearancing. The clutch side, I'm not too sure... I'll definitely have to shorten the worm gear by .040"... which doesn't matter as I'll still have 100% engagement. But, I'll have to look at the diagrams to see what's what as I'm unfamiliar with these huskies.
I clearanced the stihl bearing ID so they're a snug slip on the husky crank. Now to remove a little material from the OD...
Like I say... "ya don't know until ya know!" Obvious statement, I know. 😆
