I expected this sort of treatment when I signed up for this gig. I've got alligator hide for skin.........so I'm cool. :)

After all we have seen on AS..........I just want a better site for us all.

I can handle a few lumps to get to that........
Alligator skin and emu legs ....I gotta slide out to Tenn. To see this ....lol [emoji2]

I don't think factory warranty work should be expected from the buyer, I believe he should understand that by having the saw modified he is forgoing his right to a factory warranty. but that being said, now that the saw was modified, technically the guy that did the work is now the de facto manufacturer and maybe it would be wise for him/her to have a list of what he would "cover" under his/her own "warranty". as far as expectations on performance and cost...I have no comment
Not really, in the case of faulty bearings or other major parts, that do occur on new units, therefore you can't make the responsibility automatically rest on the person moding in every case. The customer can not go in this nievelly. Reworking a new product comes with risk, being that a failure stems from the manufacturer or the moder.

some builders prefer to work on a new saw though
i know his name is not really welcome here but one person that comes to mind is brad...it better be new or cleaned up so good he thinks its new or he doesnt touch them....ive seen enough of randy's bench to know he definetaly prefers new but will also work on junk.

I don't totally understand what you mean, but I agree, modifying a new product comes with a risk...and that risk isn't taken by any oem that im aware of. therefore if you modify it, you become the manufacturer regardless of what fails....im not saying I necessarily agree with it, im saying that's the rules from a manufacturer standpoint.

There you go then.
I get pretty defensive about this kind of thing and I wish it could have been handled privately but it's on him now.

I've seen a lot of train wrecks from threads like this. I'm all for the customer and dealer (or builder) settling it between them. I don't think third parties should be starting these threads.

It's very hard to know what is the real deal,I don't know any party involved but I'm bummed about it,do this long enough and you will make enemies no matter how honest and meek you try to be. I've done this work for a very long time and have ported 4 saws for people on forums. It's to easy to backseat drive a porting job.
I've been in his saws and I've been in randy's saws and no matter how bad they were in wouldn't post anything about it.

That was a shot at you randy. Lol
Actually randy is impressively clean with a bur and I learned from being in his saws. Thanks randy.

What if you modify a new saw and do everthing 100%, not a spec of dirt or metal. Then the rod bearing or something else takes a crap because it was defective and the saw had no run time prior to moding. I do not think the moder automatically assumes responsibility. Different story if the moder screwed up. I hope that clears up my opion.

It does and I don't necessarily disagree with you...I'm strictly speaking from the manufacturers standpoint.
