Squish currently at .0215-.024...With .023" off the aftermarket base and .025" out of the band. 20230320_214941.jpg

20230320_220437.jpgThe OE piston has more meat above the ring than the aftermarket communist version....which has too many rings and well. Lol

I'd like to cut the band and base another .015" or so....but I may be getting close to catching the ring in that void between the chamber and where the chrome plating ends......some more measuring is in order.

Near as I can tell there's a .095" gap between the chrome plating and chamber roof. .0101" from top of the piston to the top of the top ring...clear as mud? Sooo about .025" clearance if I take .003" off the base and set squish to ..018-019" Edit well take .005" off....my glue..lol...glue...(hondabond4) will surely ad a couple thousandths

Here is a look inside my cylinder. The transfer ports will flow several gpm of water PER HOLE. No restriction here. This is the same saw in the videos.

You need to chuck that FT piston in the garbage and buy a Meteor 353 piston.

Went a little too far(like .020" too far)on the aftermarket base....cut one base. Currently at .0195-.021" squish. I reckon we'll wait and see where #s land when the Meteor piston arrives.

Just put a gasket in it.
The factory gasket only gave me .013". Probably because it's been compressed on the saw for years? Anyway, I've already got the second base cut close to where I want it....Depending on the new piston height...

You guys wouldn't happen to know if the height from wrist pin to top of the piston is the same on the 353 meteor and stock dished 350?

If it isn’t the same, it should be within a couple thousandths.

Cool. Thank you sir. 👍
I'll start getting timing #s, Mark the new #s and stick my spinny thing in the cylinder.

There is a chart somewhere online with all the pin to piston top heights listed. I don't remember where to find it.
