In regards to opening up the filter, this is the first time I've seen a 026 filter. However, here's some observations I'm making from modding my 029 filter.

First off, you see that shield on the outside part of the filter that 'directs the flow around to the bottom'. How much does that limit the flow to the intake. On the 029 filter I eliminated that 'splash/spit barrier' so that flow would not be impeded.

You will see plenty of 'blank spots' on the filter that don't have any mesh - not on mine. Almost all those areas have been drilled out, front and back, bottom, and including the thin SIDES of the filter. Then the filter was covered with a thin piece of filter foam to hold the flannel cloth away from the filter cage. The two halves of the cage are enclosed within the flannel which is sewed around the edges.

Essentially, ALL the cage is a filter. In fact, since the filter foam holds the flannel away from the cage, the filter is actually larger than all the surface area of the filter cage.

My filter will still fit inside the cover (on an 029), but I prefer to run it with the cover off.

Maybe your L needle needs to be a little bit more open, that gives normally a better acceleration.
Yes I need to get her up to temp and tune it still. Then I'll know. It just seemed extra doggy.

Very nice!
Did you make or retrofit from another application?

Both. Filter is echo cs400. Filter base is a modified echo base and the rest I made. The nut is oem Stihl from a 460. Choke is fully functional from the master control lever too.

Here's another option. I need to update the thread on AS as it is on a running saw now and seems to work pretty well. It captures all the fines too.

Being that carb and filter can draw or flow more are you cutting out some of air inlet at the top of filter cover

I took out the black winter block off plate and opened it up a little bit.

Love it Al. Sounds like an old CR 85 we use to abuse as kids. That little beast is really singing! Very cool

Damn Al, you were practically chopping at that log! Looks like it pissed you off moving around like that.
That's a runner for sure!!! Is that the saw that had idling problems?

Not the idle issue saw.

But this was similar in idle issue.

I think the L is too lean, pretty much know it.

These lil guys tend to load up with fuel if set at the correct rich idle setting. So I intentionally set the idle too lean. I'm gonna richen her up today, both the H and L.

The last cuts in the video were noodling btw.

I need a bit of help on the oiler.

This saw has the pro oiler, but the stop on the adjustment screw is broken, so it jus turns.

It's not oiling so well. Very stingy. I have the screw slot perpendicular to the saw body right now.

Can anyone here tell me the proper slot direction for max oiling?

Damn. I just checked my 024, but it doesn't have an adjustable oiler. And my 026 is in my buddies car.

Maybe this pic can help.

It looks like it needs to be almost perpendicular to the saw body.
I took this pic when I was tearing mine down.
