Does anyone know if the bar studs positions are different on a 362xp than on a 372xp.

I know they are Husky small mounts not large mounts like the 372xp etc...

But are the locations different? I have just found an old outer bucking spike for the clutch cover, doesn't fit though. It needs to be moved saw forwards to get it to align with the original inner one. Doing this means grinding the holes out and in turn making the rear one void..

See below for what would need to be done?? Do I have the right spike?

I typed the part number in the ebay search, at least one hit says it fits both models? IDK

I thought as much. But lining them up I get this.. ignore the camera angle. The spikes are aligned with each other.. BTW the same part number is on the back of this one..

Obviously no. The 362 special is a small mount saw and the 365/special/372 are large mount. clutch covers and spikes don't interchange. Otherwise identical.

I fitted a pair of 372 spikes onto my 357XP. It just took some time with a file to make it work. Worth it imo, perfect size for the smaller saw and I like having the outer one for flushing off big knots and such parallel to the log.

Why is it obvious... IIRC the part number covers the 362/365/371/372/385/390 etc.

I know the studs on the 362 are 8.2mm vs the 9mm on the 372's etc. And the clutch cover has the chain tensioner on the 372xp vs. front case mount on the 362. But it makes zero sense to me to move the stud positions in the engineering of the casing from a build point of view as it just affects the machining times in factory. Why create extra work with redesigning the case on; 1. the stud positions and 2. the damn tensioner. They had a perfectly good design on the 365/372. They could have just changed the stud size to allow for the small mount bar... IMO anyway.. It's as if they under developed the 362xp casing to go back a step to the 371 design.. If they wanted the tensioner at the front for some weird reason they could have taken the 371 plug/tool and just tapped smaller stud holes.
And as regards the extra 0.8mm of slop on the stud I cannot see how this would really affect the outer felling spike as they have a stupid amount of tolerance anyway.

Rant over.. :risas3:

Not trying to dick you man, Just that the spacing of the studs is obvious. My first 262xp had spikes from the pro safety 272 spikes on it. A very nice combo. The 362 was trying to bite on the reputation of the 262 without threatening the 357xp.

If husqvarna wasn't intentionally cross marketing then I would agree with you that its stupid to have a second spike/clutch cover that fits nothing else. It goes against their modular attitude at husqy. Again, its not obvious that the dicks on ebay/interwebs lie about compatibility, wasn't trying to insult u.

I agree that if you were super about it you could ream the case and tap in some 9mm studs. Ream the clutch cover. And grind out the front stud area of the spike. No slop?

Just seen this, don't worry I didn't think any insults were thrown. TBH I had a 371xp and now have a 362xp w372 topend. I do not have them both now so don't have them side by side to compare the stud spacing differences, guessing it would look obvious side by side. Ah well, no biggy. I'll just keep it to the single spike for now.
