All I can say is to try it. I broke a ring the other day, so now my 046 is only sportin one ringWhat do you all think of leaving out the bottom ring on a 201t?

Lol! That's really why I'm asking. I broke one too.All I can say is to try it. I broke a ring the other day, so now my 046 is only sportin one ring
Interesting... Have you?Has anyone tried lapping the rings to get a better seal on the piston?.....not the cyl
GotchaCombustion pressure forces a ring down to the bottom of the ring land and out to the cyl somewhat....by lapping the bottom side of a ring you get rid of the highs and lows and it seals better on the land of the piston....only really works on new pistons cause on used pistons the ring lands are already deformed a little
Have you seen this increase compression Brett?Combustion pressure forces a ring down to the bottom of the ring land and out to the cyl somewhat....by lapping the bottom side of a ring you get rid of the highs and lows and it seals better on the land of the piston....only really works on new pistons cause on used pistons the ring lands are already deformed a little
It's a old Karting trick...I do it to every new piston....it's hard to notice a comp increase....but ya ever notice blowby discoloration on the side of a piston....not sure if it's actually from bad seal on the cyl or bad seal on the ring landHave you seen this increase compression Brett?

No you just lap the ring. ...I have a misi ring tool you fit the ring in a use 1500 grit...wet sand it a little on a piece of glassAnd I'm guessing you do it by hand and avoid the ring pin?
