Can someone clear the air for me. I keep reading that an OE top end can go on a xtorqs case. But a xtorq top end can't go on an OE without modifications. The bottom of the piston will hit the case portion of the lower transfers! I have a 1998 365 special in front of me and I installed a xtroq piston just to see what people mean. The piston isn't touching the transfers! Did Husqvarna use a different case with the 365 vs 372? I've actually looked at an new xtorq case and the transfers are deeper. but I've also compared it to an OE 372 which had shallower transfers. By the way yes everything is OEM.

If it fits, it fits. But bolt the cylinder down and spin it. The piston doesn’t travel the same without the jug.

Of course, you need a RWJ intake setup and the taller cover. XT brake flag also highly recommended.

And in the end you get an XT.

My understanding is the xt cylinder flange is longer than the oe flange and will bottom out in the oe case. If it doesn't bolt down all the way that's your answer.
Oh I guess I was remembering wrong. I thought it was the piston. I am going to assume that would mean the modification would involve grinding the cylinder extension down a bit? I am not planning on actually doing any of this to this saw because I don't own it. I had the 365 special's jug off for porting and while I had the piston off coursity struck me haha

Ya I did have a clone OE that I converted to Xtorq that's when I discovered found the brake flag differences. I would have thought they would have just extended the plastic a bit to clear the taller engine cover. Instead of having a newly designed lever. I would have thought the plastic molds would cost less than the having the machines cut out blades changed...I am assuming it's stamped steel idk though.
