many husky saws have a hole in crank so sprocket bearing can be greased through crank stub, never seen one open to case inside tho

Some guys at the AS site discuss this but no conclusion. This hole on the crank<pto side> is directly through the inside of the balancer. I flush the crankcase with gas and found out gas leak through this hole. It is said that the newer 3120 share crank with concrete saws. Also curious no air leaks?

that's for greasing the sprocket bearing as Custer said but I didn't know it was open to the crankcase as well, that seems like an instant air leak unless I am missing something

The drum bearing rides there. No air leak. All Pro Husqvarna saw's are this way. Just hit the end of the crank after cutting with a push greaser and you don't have to take the clutch off to grease the bearing.

I'm the same way I just shakem up. Pull it a few times. I got a 99 dollar crapsman weedwack bought in 2005 only replaced a spark plug. Gas stays in it over winter fires up every spring.

Its poor gas wether it has E in it or not.
Some oxygenated bs.
I been running the can gas. Costs more but better fuel imo.

But he is saying on the 3120 crank he has that hole continues through the crank. When he flushed the crankcase with fuel, it came OUT that hole. (That crank stub being drilled for greasing the clutch bearing is VERY handy!!)

Don’t forget we did all of PA with a moving truck hauling an SUV and both were packed to the gills plus the Expedition packed tight towing a trailer. Albeit it was dark by the time we went through PA, which was probably worse.

a minty 246 is worth 400, got a minty one a couple years ago, G & cat. One collector saw is enough for me.
