Is it too much to ask for ported 390xp throttle response and high-end with Mac SP125c (or 797) torque and good antivibe in a 15.5# dry package that'll last? A redneck can dream...

When you delete the base gasket on a 044/440 you usually get close to 20/1000 squish w/o any machine work. You generally can't do that on a 460. So deleting the base gasket gives you more compression, a longer effective power stroke (the distance from TDC to the exhaust port) and increases the intake timing.

This makes it a much easier saw to extract performance from for those of us w/o a machine shop, just sayin.

There may be other similar saws, but there are also a lot of them you can't just delete the gasket and end up with good squish.

I know all that mike and its been covered 1000 times , ive probably had 12-15 044/440s and probably more 460s and tried all kinds of things with them..they arent much different than alot of other saws in the sense they perk up without alot of work...once again , it all applies...a tightened squish with an open muffler and a timing bump makes almost any modern saw run better.

Except some of the huskers ive had..some didnt seem to gain much from a key shavin.

October 2017 the new 462 will be realesed. There was 2 prototyp saws at the forestshools. 73ccm at 6,2kg and 6PS.

Wow, that sounds nice. Did you get to run it?

A >70 cc saw that is under 14 lbs should be a hit.

I like them as I'm ambidextrous and it offers additional options for usage depending on my needs. I dislike them when it's time to top off the fluids. If I had a larger Stihl th 3/4 wrap would probably work well for m usage. I am VERY curious to see this MS462...

I like them for the versatility and i think they balance big saws with long bars better , and for the guys bumpin out west it makes the saw easier to limb with...but that doesnt apply to 99% of the members here.

I like the 461Rs I have.

I don't use the other side of the wrap as much as some of y'all, but I like it being there when I need it.

I'm not ambidextrous, I'm straight up left handed.

Running a Saw is one of the few things I do right handed.

Edit:

If you will lay your axe on you bar cross ways, it won't act like a Husky in the back of your crummy on a dirt road when you are trying to refuel it.

I prefer not to have it cause it makes the saw heavier, and makes it harder to stump close to the ground.

Since I often take down trees in someone's yard, that is important to me.

Like most everything else, depends on what specific things you do that result in your choices. If I was just logging in the woods, I would likely prefer it.

It allows you to hold the Saw so that you can cut more from 1 side.

Here is video:

It's not because of lazy, think of obstacles, etc.

Hi,

damn, this saw runs pretty good. Is this the maxflow airfilter?

Thanks for sharing this video. Maybe i try out the wrap handle, but i think i need a bigger bar for thath..

Unfortunately not. The saw was just an exhibition object with specnote on it. The 462 should be in KWF Test, to get the authorization now.

That's a Ported 461: done right, they will rip.

He's another

That Tennessee Square Oak is getting hard in that video, & the other was live softwood.
Pay no mind to the fowl legged operator in the video.

Some like the max flow & some don't.
